Milan Fashion Week: the Green Fashion Celebrated at La Scala

In this edition of Milan Fashion Week, the great protagonist is the famous Theater La Scala. The first edition of the Green Carpet Fashion Awards in Italy takes place on the stage of the lyric temple the night of September 24, which purpose is to recognize the sustainability and responsibility in environmental issues by the fashion industry.

To celebrate the green turn of the Fashion Week, a garden has also set up in Piazza Della Scala. The ceremony, which will award eleven amongst the greenest fashion houses, will be a kind of Oscars night in green, with Hollywood guests such as Julianne Moore, Helen Mirren, Colin and Livia Firth.

The Milan Fashion Week 2017 calendar, scheduled for September 20 to 25, features 159 collections, including catwalks and presentations, at the prestigious locations of Palazzo Reale, the National Museum of Science and Technology and Fabbrica del Vapore, among others.

There is space for the emerging internationals who will debut at the Fashion Hub Market in the UniCredit Pavillion, hosting the fifth edition with 14 new brands to discover.

But the city of fashion in these days is also displaying Milan XL - The Italian Creativity Party, an open-air celebration of the imagination and skills of our artisans and designers, by maxi installations dedicated to our manufacturing sector and unquestionable excellence.


Here is where to find all the installations to be seen during the Milan Fashion Week in September:


  • Dress up the face in Piazza San Carlo: the celebration of the Italian optical manufactory goes through the narrative creativity of a spectacular video-mapping show.


  • The last gift, in Red Cross Square: the story of the tannery Masters of the Made in Italy’ style, with the entire leather processing chain to the wonder of the finished product.


  • The Textile Library at Palazzo Ragioneria: a large wooden bookcase containing precious fabrics used in fashion, is mounted on the facade of the palace, near Piazza della Scala.


  • The Lounge of Joys, in Galleria Vittorio Emanuele: Some of our art masterpieces are displayed on an octagonal structure in the center of the Gallery. The portraits of the protagonists of different ages are on display along with a reproduction of the Corona Ferrea and some pieces of the contemporary Italian jewelry.


  • From the shop to the showcase. The cinema of arts and crafts in Via Montenapoleone: in the luxury road of Milan, on the facades of the palaces transformed into giant screens, the stories of the Italian fashion masters are on the scene.


  • The cosmos of beauty at Renaissance palace: an ensemble of painted masks stands out on the façade of La Rinascente, in homage to make-up art and female identity.
